Crazy 8s Sketching
A fast-paced ideation game: 8 ideas in 8 minutes to break out of design ruts and uncover novel ideas.
When to use it
When you want to explore lots of ideas quickly, early in the design phase.
Steps

Hand out an a4 sheet of paper and fold into eighths.
If you’re working remotely, encourage everyone to do this with paper and share images.
- Set a timer for 8 minutes.
- Sketch 1 idea per minute — this is to ensure quantity over polish to generate lots of different ideas.
- Share and discuss as a group.
- Cluster ideas and vote on directions.
- Repeat as many times as needed.
Outcome
- Looser, more creative ideation
